Letter to Tyra Banks

Dear Tyra

I have been a fan of "America's Next Top Model" since the 2nd season and your show has provided me with endless hours of entertainment. I do think that you and your judges have chosen the winners wisely (with the exception of Season 2, Mercedes really should have won) but I am concerned with the direction this season is taking.

A few weeks ago, I was shocked when Jade was chosen to stay over Mollie Sue. Mollie Sue having no personality? I think you sometimes mistake choosing to stay out of petty drama as having no personality. I would think that America's Next Top Model should have a winning personality and should be able to get along with just about everyone. But, I guess Jade makes better TV so she stayed. Fine, so be it.

Even though the outcome was decided months in advance, I do hope that you have not chosen Jade as your winner or even runner-up. If Jade does win ANTM, I am afraid I will have to stop watching this show. However, I do have utmost confidence that you will do the right thing and that by next week's episode, Jade will have been eliminated.

Yours truly,

Just Another SWJF

America Gets It Right!

Maybe the majority of voters in the U.S.A. didn't have it right when we elected our current president into office (not just once but twice!) but we can take a little solace after the American Idol results show tonight. Kellie Pickler was voted off and I did the 'happy happy joy joy' dance in my apartment. I guess I'm not the only person who thinks that Kellie Pickler would be lucky to sell out the arena at Great Adventure.

Why is Kellie Pickler So Popular aka American Idol Thoughts

Can someone please explain to me why Kellie Pickler is still in this show? Is it pity or do you really think she is so talented that she will sell millions of records and sell out concert arenas? You and I both know that on a good day, she would be lucky to sell out the arena at Great Adventure.

Since Mandisa, my previous favorite, left early, all my votes are going to Elliot Yamin. He has mad talent, is decent looking (I know he has weird teeth but no one's perfect) and seems like a genuinely good guy. Anyone who can openly cry on national TV after seeing a video of his family and is so openly respectful of his mother is a winner to me. If you vote or don't vote at all, do me a favor tonight and please send a couple of votes Elliot's way. No way in hell should he go home before the Pickler!

How To Piss Off a Single Person

Since I have recently rejoined the ranks of the single, I thought that I'd write down a list of things that people should not say to a single person. Throughout reading this list, you might wonder have any of these comments actually been said to me or is it just a figment of my overactive imagination? You be the judge...

What Not To Say To A Single Person

1. You've lived fill in the blank years in fill in the blank and you haven't found anyone to settle down with. Isn't it time for a change?

2. Do you ever get lonely living in fill in the blank?

3. You're too picky/not picky enough/any variation of that statement.

4. Why can't a nice woman like you find a good guy?

This is just a start. Any additional comments are welcome.

I'm A Flava-holic

Yes, it's true. I am a huge fan of "Flavor of Love". At first, I refused to watch the show but eventually I got sucked in. How did I get sucked in? Let me count the ways:

1. Having spent more than half of my life working with kids, it was a hoot to see the contestants try to play with these kids and fail miserably. The way some of them were dressed was unreal, 'yea i'll go wear my sparkly hoochie top to a kids birthday party, makes such sense'.

2. Who in the hell puts a chicken in the microwave? Not only that, but who puts veggies, marshmallows, and uncooked noodles on top of the chicken? I may not be the greatest cook around and I know my repetoire is limited but next to that lady, I am Julia Childs.

3. Hoopz saying she felt like a VIP at Medieval Times was one of the funniest quotes ever. What more needs to be said?

4. 'If it doesn't apply, let it fly'. This gem of a quote was said by Flava Flav to a contestant who was all upset that someone insulted her by telling her to get a face lift. .

5. Last but not least, Miss New York and her funny lines. "Hoopz nervouses me", using "if you will" at the end of every sentence, there should be a page in the dictionary devoted to her.

I could mention more but I implore you to go to VH1 and watch some video of this show. You will absolutely howl with laughter.

Geniuses

Recently, I decided to volunteer for a film festival. The cool thing about volunteering at a film festival are the vouchers you can get per shift that you can exchange for a ticket to a movie screening. If you work one shift, you get a voucher for a screening; two shifts will get you a voucher for a panel. If you want to volunteer, you have to fill out a form detailing when you will be available to volunteer and any specifications you may have. For example, I wrote that I was available to volunteer some evenings and on Sundays. I was assigned to a specific department and it was with great anticipation that I went to that department's volunteer meeting.

To my surprise (and a few others), we are told that there are only two shifts you can volunteer for: 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM and 1:30 PM - 6:30 or 7:00 PM. Makes perfect sense, right? Let's put the people who can only work evening shifts in a department that doesn't have them. I requested another department that I can do volunteer work for in the evening. So far, I am scheduled for one shift with the original department. We'll see how this pans out.

Passover is Over, Whoopee! aka Yes, I Can Eat Carbs Again

Passover ended last night and I am very happy it is over with. The main reason I am happy it is over with is because I get to eat foods from my favorite food group, carbohydrates. I went to the supermarket and got me some Cap'm Crunch, pita and whole wheat challah rolls, as well as some other necessities (Snapple Iced Tea and Lays Potato Chips) and I will have myself a huge carbohydrate feast this weekend.

For lunch, I had some veggies, turnip polenta, and cheese ravioli. Maybe it was the timing but I swear it was the best cheese ravioli I ever had.

Welcome

Welcome to my new and exciting blog! Think of this as less a personal diary and more of a random stream of thought where I get to rant and rave about anything and anyone I want and you get to read it all. Don't sweat the small stuff?!? This blog is all about the small stuff.

If I make one reader laugh and forget about his/her problems, then this will brighten my day. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
